The Couple At Home Depot
I was walking off to the side behind my parents,
They (the couple) were walking in front of us,
They were pushed together,
He wore a plaid shirt,
With a plain white shirt underneath,
White khakis,
And tennis shoes,
She wore a blue sweater,
And blue jeans with tennis shoes,
Her arm was pulled under the other arm,
Holding his hand,
They smiled,
And snuggled as they walked,
And while I thought of them for a moment,
I realized,
That is what I want some day.
They looked as if they were ready to fight the world,
Together,
And tell each other everything is going be all right,
As long as the sun rises once more in the morning,
And sets once more in the evening.
I want that kind of love.
But in my life that is far away,
So for now,
I’ll just watch them walk on.
